TOP SIX FINISH FOR YORK IN 2008 KONI CHALLENGE SERIES DEBUT
Teammates York and Miller advance through field for great result.
26 January 2008 | Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach Florida

Starting from deep in the 97 car field of the Grand Am KONI Challenge Series’ season-opening race, Kevin York of Compass360 Racing (C360R) knew he’d have lots of work to do in order to move to the front.
Without any hesitation, his first moves were made on the opening lap with York passing several competitors’ cars.
York advanced into the top fifteen of cars in the Street Tuner (ST) class when, near the mid-point of the three-hour race, a fortuitous caution period occurred on track.
The C360R team took the opportunity to provide service pit stops and driver changes to all three of their Acura TSXs.
York handed an unscathed car over to co-driver Christian Miller – who continued the charge forward during his stint. Miller drove smartly to fifth place until a long brake pedal on the #75 GoEnzo.com, 034 Motorsport, C360R TSX did not allow him the normally-present great braking of the car. As a consequence, a competitor slipped by, placing Miller in sixth position at the race’s end – which occurred under yellow flag conditions.
All of the Compass360 Racing’s team cars finished in the top ten. This was a remarkably strong showing at the season’s first race. Karl Thomson and Travis Walker finished third, York and Miller in sixth and Adam Burrows and Trevor Hopwood, 2007 ST champions, finished ninth.

KEVIN YORK ON PACE WITH NEW TEAM AT DAYTONA TESTING
12 January 2008 | Charlotte, NC

With many new and challenging firsts to encounter, Kevin York traveled to Daytona International Speedway recently for pre-season testing for the Grand Am’s KONI Challenge Series.
With his new team, Compass360/Racing, Kevin had a new group of crew members and driving teammates to meet. Important among those to get acquainted with was new co-driver, Christian Miller.
Of course, another important member of the team was there also – the C360R Acura TSX #75.
“I was immediately comfortable in the car,” enthused York. “C360R crew chief, Ray Lee, clearly has great ability to assemble a first-class car. The crew and he worked hard and smart all weekend long as I and my teammates came to grips with testing.”
“Each session was an opportunity for me to learn more about the TSX. I certainly feel that it’s going to be a competitive platform this season.” noted York.
Indeed, York was eighth fastest in Sunday’s afternoon session, five-hundredths of a second from the pace of fellow C360R teammate and 2007 KONI Challenge Series champion, Adam Burrows.
The Compass360/Racing team will be ready for the 2008 KONI Challenge Series' first race to be held at Daytona International Speedway on January 25.

York and Dunn endure wetness at Four Hours of Pacific Raceways.

Pacific Raceways | Kent, Washington
"...there was a Neon running at a pace unlike I have ever seen a Neon running before."
The above quote - from a fellow competitor (who eventually went on to win his class in the event) - sums up the West Coast Touring Cars' 2007 attempt at the Four Hours of Pacific Raceways.
Apart from a bungled (read, l-o-o-o-n-g) pit stop for rain tires shortly after the four-hour speed contest began, York and Dunn hustled the Dodge Neon ACR around the soaking wet (but sometimes drying) Pacific Raceways for all it was worth.
Considering the car is "punching above its weight" in terms of classification, a ninth-place class finish and twenty-fourth overall (of thirty-nine) finish were very respectable.

Fun with Frustration
FUN WITH FRUSTRATION – KEVIN YORK AFTER THE EIGHT HOURS
Prior winner suffers DNF with West Coast Touring Cars team
17 March 2007| Portland International Raceway, Portland, Oregon
Kevin York of YORK Motorsport lamented a mechanical failure of the West Coast Touring Car’s (WCTC) P2-classed car. The result was a non-finish at the Eight Hours of the Cascades sports car endurance race at Portland International Raceway on 17 March 2007.
York - a 2004 Eight Hours P3 class-winner - joined co-drivers from WCTC, 2005 SCCA Northwest Region ITA class champion, Rob Dunn and car owner Paul Forgey for this event.
WCTC elected York to drive the team’s first stint – planned to be approximately two-hours, forty-five minutes in length.

Kevin York, belted in the WCTC car prior to race.
"The team had three solid and fruitful practice sessions in the morning, before the event
." Kevin remarked after the race. "My teammates and I were optimistic for a dependable run to the finish of the race. With many strong P2-class contenders, we knew we’d struggle to be as fast as some of them. However, we planned on running consistent laps and working any attrition or caution periods to our advantage. However, we got off to a poor start when the car would not! (start) Once underway, we chased down many of our class competitors and the car was running fairly well. Eventually an engine misfire condition presented and the engine died while on-track. Per the event rules, only the driver can work on the car – anything else, including a tow to the pits – would have disqualified us. I labored trackside for about forty-five minutes with various spare parts and tools that the team brought to me via the closest opening in the track’s fencing. I did manage to get the car running again – only to have it repeat its problems. After hours of valiant efforts from the WCTC crew – including an attempt to get back in the race when the car “acted repaired”, with Paul Forgey behind the wheel – it eventually came to pass that the engine again died on track. At that point, we had exhausted all our spares and the car was brought behind pit wall for the final time.
”
I would like to thank Rob, Paul, and all the WCTC team for their “never give up” attitude. Too, I’d like to thank my son, Evan for his support and insights.
While we did not finish and we did suffer a certain level of frustration, we all left the event richer from the experience and had smiles beneath the exhaustion.

Kevin York working on the ailing WCTC car during race.

Ahead of the G8 Summit this weekend, Kevin York of YORK Motorsport joins seven times F1 World Champion, Michael Schumacher, in asking the G8 leaders to pay special note to the Commission for Global Road Safety's recent report.

“We hope that G8 leaders will take up the recommendations of the Report and ask that they consider discussing the issue at their summit this year in Russia or again next year in Germany. We need to make people aware of the real human cost of road traffic injuries. Five hundred children are dying every day and thousands more are being disabled or injured. This is why I support the campaign to Make Roads Safe;” Schumacher was quoted as saying at the recent British Grand Prix.

Kevin York mourns the passing of a friend and racer - Rory Price
2 April 2006 - Seattle, WA / Madison, WI
Friend and racer, Rory Price, died this past Friday night at Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, WA.
The sprint car he was driving impacted a wall at the Speedway during an evening practice session.
Rory, a long-time veteran of open-wheel motorsports, was test-driving the car as a favor to the car's owner. He was taken to a Monroe hospital after the incident but did not respond to resuscitation attempts.
The practice session was a tuneup for the first races of the season, scheduled for Saturday. But the races, which were to have included 38 NASCAR elite cars and about 20 winged sprint cars, were canceled because of weather.
Within the last few years, Rory had finally gotten married and he and his wife had a baby daughter within the last year.
He was as gregarious and fun-loving as a person could be.
While he was a fierce competitor on-track, he was equally generous in sharing his time, tools and race cars with his racing peers.
In fact, Rory offered us the use of his USAC midget sprint car for a test session a few years back at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval, Wenatchee, WA. His only stipulation to us that nite? To not lap faster than him!
Frankly, words cannot express the loss of yet another stellar human being from this earth.
Godspeed in your new journey Rory.

YORK Motorsport looks to 2006 Indoor Kart World Championship
5 November 2005 - Seattle, WA / Madison, WI

After initial conversations between the management staff (aka "Dad") and driver team (Dad - same as above - and Evan, aka "Son") of YORK Motorsport, it has been decided than an effort will be put forth to compete in the 2006 Indoor Kart World Championship (IKWC).
Indoor kart racers from all over the world will meet to compete and determine the season’s World Champion Driver, World Champion Team, and starting in 2006, a World Champion Nation.
Evan was heard saying:"With all the indoor racing that Dad and I have done and continue to do here in the Seattle area, I think that competing for a World Championship would be really cool!!"
In talking with Kevin, he was heard saying: "We've talked about forming a two-driver team. To have YORK Motorsport represented on the world stage would be a neat addition to our accomplishments. Taking what we've learned on the local scene and comparing it to the abilities of other indoor racers from around the globe would be a great challenge!!"

Kevin York wins a wet-one at Pacific Raceways!!
At a very wet Pacific Raceways, Kevin York of YORK Motorsport took great joy in passing thirty of his competitors for an overall finishing spot of eleventh (yes, that means we started forty-first...qualifying was, erm, let's say...challenging...evil handling coupled with dry tires on a wet track...!)
Coupled with the overall (Group 2) race finish was a class win in H-Production!
Kevin York in the ACR Neon before the race.
The event was the season-ending one of the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC).
The "Last Chance Race" was presented by the International Race Drivers' Club and held under ICSCC sanction.
Very special thanks to Dunn-Forgey, Ltd., Mighty-O Donuts, and Evan York (Kevin's son), also of YORK Motorsport.
Watch this space for more exciting details soon!!
Unfortunately, the race was marred with an injurious accident just prior to the mid-point of the event. YORK Motorsport wishes a speedy recovery to those drivers and cars that were hurt.

Kevin York has another podium finish at Team Continental NBCF Grand Prix
Adversity doesn't deter effort.
Kevin York passing yet another competitor at Spokane Raceway Park. Photo courtesy of Walt Conley.
Once again we were honored to be invited to drive the "little Neon that could" by our friends at Forgey Racing and Mascot Theory Motorsports.
Having had such a good run - with lots of FUN at Seattle in May - all parties planned on the same for Spokane...
The event we were to take part in was the Team Continental presents National Breast Cancer Foundation Grand Prix. This race was round six of a twelve-round series that stretches from April to October. The series is sanctioned by the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC). The ICSCC was founded in 1957 and is the largest sports car racing sanctioning body in the Pacific Northwest. It consists of five member and five affiliate clubs in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
Transporting racing vehicles to each motorsport venue is sometimes more of an effort than racing the cars they haul!! I know Rob and Paul feel that is a gross understatement given the trials and tribulations they suffered just trying to get to Spokane Raceway park!!
The duo and the haulers set out on the Thursday afteroon preceding the weekend and arrived at the track Saturday morning at 2AM - after what is supposed to be a four-five hour trip!!!!
Fuel injection and turbo system failure in the big Ford truck and cooling system and engine management issues with the smaller Ford truck meant that both Rob and Paul had their patience taxed to the limit!!. After much consternation, creativity intervened and both Dodge Neon ACR racing cars made it the front gate of Spokane Raceway Park and the duo fell fast asleep - in the cab of the remaining-as-running big Ford truck.
Meanwhile, at the comfy Holiday Inn nearby, we were sleeping soundly in our beds after a nightime blitz accross Washington state in our trusty BMW 528i, "Hans" - so named by my son)...

Kevin York invited to drive at Team Continental NBCF Grand Prix
Following from the positive results at Pacific Raceways in May, Forgey Racing has again invited Kevin York to drive their Dodge Neon ACR.

Kevin York leading a competitor at Pacific Raceways - May 2005
The event this time will be the Team Continental Presents National Breast Cancer Foundation Grand Prix. This race is round six of a twelve-round series that stretches from April to October.
Held at Spokane Raceway Park and in the middle of a hot summer as it is, the race should prove to be as challenging as any.
"I'm very pleased to know that Paul Forgey of Forgey Racing has invited us to drive his racing car once again. The Improved Touring A (ITA) class that the car will compete in is a very competitive one. Also, Spokane Raceway Park is one of my favorite road-racing courses in the Northwest! Coupled with the fact that we'll be racing along side our friend Rob Dunn of Mascot Theory Motorsports in a similar car and we have a recipe for a FUN weekend. To top it all off, I'll have my son and fellow YORK Motorsport teammate Evan York helping me".- Kevin York

Podium finish for Kevin York at Pacific Raceways!!
With less than a dozen practice laps in a new car, Kevin York finished on the podium in a hotly contested Improved Touring A (ITA) class in the International Race Driver's Club "Salute to the Troops" sports car road race at Pacific Raceways.
Kent, Washington - 22 May 2005 -- With less than a (combined) dozen laps in practice and qualifying, Kevin York qualified the Forgey Racing ACR Neon in the top ten of a hotly contested ITA field. His subsequent movement through the field during the race - to finish on the podium - was due to relentless effort.
For the dry-wet-dry half-hour race event, York got a great start and passed several class and group cars in Pacific Raceway's long and fast turn 2.
Adjustments and adaptation to the rapidly changing weather meant York was very busy!
During the mid-race wetness, York was able catch and pass several out-of-class (and ostensiably faster...) cars. He hoped the rain would continue....
However, the sun returned and a dryline around the 2.26 mile road course presented an opportunity for other cars previously passed to regain ground.
York's finishing position of third (from eighth) was lauded by crew and competitor alike.

Kevin York joins Compass360/Racing for Laguna Seca Grand Am event.
Having forfeited my race seat to JC France for this upcoming weekend's U.S. Sportscar Invitational Grand Am Cup race at Laguna Seca, I will still be working with the Compass360/Racing team. For this event, I'll act as Team Strategist between the two BMW Z3 coupes.
Below you'll see the press release from Compass360/Racing about the event.
Rest assured though, I'll still bring my racing gear along with me - just in case! ;-)

4/27/2005 - Toronto-based Compass360/Racing today announced the team's driver line-up for the Grand Am Cup event at Laguna Seca. J.C. France -- no stranger to Grand American as the pilot of the #59 Brumos Daytona Prototype -- will be sharing the #06 Compass360 BMW Z3 Coupe with team owner (and 2003 Ontario Regional Champion) Karl Thomson. "These BMWs look like they'll be a blast to drive, and I'm looking forward to some good racing in Cup," said France. "We're really excited to have J.C. join the team," said Thomson. "His experience speaks for itself and we're looking forward to returning the Z3s to the front of the pack."The team is also continuing their support of young North American racers by fielding two 19-year old Skip Barber scholarship recipients. Billy Johnson, who's recently competed in Formula BMW and Star Mazda joins Chris Wehrheim in the team's #36 Z3. "These two are quick, consistent and have extensive experience at Laguna that'll be a real asset," said Thomson.
"We believe that Grand American is one of the best places for up-and-coming drivers to showcase their talents," added Thomson. "This series is without question the premier venue to launch a solid career in motorsports. Our young drivers for Laguna have proven themselves in open-wheel competition and are now ready to take podium finishes in professional racing."
Compass360/Racing's support of young drivers dates to the team's inaugural year in 2004, where talents like Jody Trudeau and Jeff Hersh helped the team secure an 11th place finish in the GAC championship. In 2005, 23-year old Jeff Wallace, 22-year old Becky Swafford and Tim Hauraney have already been part of the team. Hauraney, in particular, parlayed his drive with Compass360 at Daytona into a ride in a Porsche 911 in the FIA/GT series in Europe.
"We're committed to supporting young drivers through our involvement in Grand Am Cup," said Thomson. "This is a televised pro series that's got a growing fan base and has had explosive increases in its field size, which is exactly what sponsors are looking for. Right now, there's no question that Grand American is the place to be."
Compass360/Racing fields BMW Z3 Coupes (with distinctive opposing blue-and-white livery) in the series, and its cars are currently running seventh and ninth in the championship. The team is supported by sponsors Compass360 Design + Advertising, Hockley Autosport, mmwave Technologies, Burry Signs and Nautical White Yachtwear.
The US Sportscar Invitational at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca takes place April 29-30, 2005, and will be televised tape-delayed on SPEED Channel.

YORK Motorsport thinks BIG for 2005
For immediate release!
YORK Motorsport thinks BIG for 2005
2 September 2004 - Seattle, Washington
Kevin York of YORK Motorsport was recently an invited guest of the Super Truck Racing Association of North America (STRANA) at the Road America round of the American Le Mans Series.
In his never-ending quest to experience racing vehicles of every sort, York spent time with the STRANA officials reviewing and experiencing the high-tech Class 8 racing rigs at the famous Wisconsin racing venue.
STRANA, under the sanction of the International Motorsports Association (IMSA), is a governing body for super truck racing in North America under the leadership of Executive Director Brian Till. Till, a former professional racing driver who now works for motorsports cable channel, SPEED, says STRANA is bringing a racing property to North America that motorsports fans will embrace.
“STRANA's creation is the result of months of planning, due diligence, discussions with people in the trucking industry and trucking industry media, with track owners and management, with those who run super truck racing in Europe and those who have run super truck racing series on this continent in the past," said Till.
“The FIA European Truck Racing Series as well as a similar series in Brazil, have been wildly popular with motorsports fans for years.” noted York. “I’m of the belief that STRANA’s efforts to bring such dynamic racing to North America are well founded.”
Kevin, as a seasoned competitor with experience in multiple forms of racing series and vehicles, has reason to believe that this series will be very exciting to be a part of. To that end, he currently is engaged in the process of making contact with teams that will be positioning themselves to take part in the 2005 STRANA race season of six events.
STRANA’s creation of the Super Truck Racing Series provides a platform that does not exist for the trucking and transportation industry in North America. Every business that is involved with the trucking and transportation industry will see that there is nothing more strategically correct for this industry to align its brands with.
Sponsors and suppliers of the Tonka Super Truck Racing Series and STRANA include Tonka, Haldex, Alcoa, ArvinMeritor, ZF Group NAO, Fluidyne High Performance, Stack, Spal, Shields, K&N, ATL, Racing Radios, TruckSkin, Stand-21, Detroit Locker and Pittsburgh Power.
Based in suburban Columbus, Ohio, STRANA is the governing body for class-8 super truck racing in North America. Its mission is to promote super truck racing and the trucking and transportation industry.
Based in Seattle, Washington and Madison, Wisconsin, Kevin York is an internationally credentialed motorsport competitor. His YORK Motorsport offers exciting, brand-centered marketing opportunities.
